TOPIC 1:SITUATION: Asking for a loan in the bank.
A:Client: asking for a loan in the Suntrust Bank. You´d like to purchase an apartment in the city centre but you´re penniless at the moment. Make the bank assistant trust you and ask him about the taxes to pay afterwards. ASK FOR ADVICE (SHOULD)
B:Bank assistant: You are very reluctant to give money away. Ask your client about his bank account, salary, savings, expenses, main source of income, invoices… USE QUESTION TAGS when asking. and tell your clients his/ her musts and obligations (MUST)

TOPIC 2: LOOK AT THE PICTURES GIVEN AND COMMENT WHAT YOU SEE (PHYSICALLY) AND WHAT THE SITUATION IS. Follow the following steps to do it:

1. FORMAL PHONE CONVERSATION

Situation: You have already handed in your University Project to your professor. When you have seen the marks you got, you have felt really disappointed.

A: UNIVERSITY STUDENT (CALLER): Try to talk to your teacher on the phone in order to complain about your marks.
B: PERSONAL ASSISTANT (PERSON ANSWERING): Answer the phone and try to help the student with his/her problem. Your boss is out at the moment, let her/him know and proceed with the suitable steps that you already know.

2. MOVING OUT

Situation: You have decided to move out. You´ll receive several pictures of houses. Decide with your partner which one is the best one for you and describe them carefully.

IMPORTANT: YOU´VE GOT TO USE AS MANY WORDS (ADJECTIVES, VERBS, NOUNS) FROM THE WORDLIST AS POSSIBLE.

If you could move out, where would you go?

HOUSES, FLATS, COTTAGES...

With a partner, discuss which of these houses you would move in and why.
What type of accomodation: house, flat, cottage, semi-detached, bungalow...?
Talk about its characteristics: quiet, noisy, spacious, light, modern, safe, unsafe, crampy, classic, luxury, rural...
Decide if you´d like to have a balcony or not, garden or swimming pool, views upon the see or mountain, city centre or outskirts...

ORAL EXAM. TOPICS UNIT 2.

Situation: Serious debate between a serious journalist and a paparazzi.
A: You´re a tedious paparazzi who always persecutes celebrities and invades their private lives every now and then. You are in favour of pestering celebrities and airing their dirty laundry.
B: You´re a respectable journalist not interested in making fun of celebrities. You are against yellow press and defend their privacy.


Situation: You both work at an office and had had a bad day today.
A: You are a secretary. Everything is going wrong: photocopier not working, phone out of order, PC screen keeps freezing, printer broken…ask for help.
B: You are an engineer. Helps A, deal with his/her problems and offer give him/her a hand and fix the machines.

TOPIC 2. GENERALISATIONS.

Make up a conversation in which you talk with your partner about generalisations regarding men and women. Talk about statistics, percentages and all that stuff.

Use the chart on page 8 of your Student´s book where you´ll find the connectors to express general opinions or facts.

WELCOME BACK!

Bye-bye summer! A new school-year has already started. We have to say goodbye to the summer vacation and resume the classes with energy and motivation. It is time to be eager to enjoy English because it is having fun when you learn the most and the fastest, with no effort.

This is a message to encourage you all to carry out a well-done job and to welcome you back to the comming school-year. A challenge for all of us.
